New rooftop PTZ Cameras for NBC Universal

Welcome back Workman readers! Today’s blog is covering a rooftop PTZ camera installation we’ve completed for our friends at NBC Universal.

You may remember NBC from our last rooftop PTZ installation at the Waterfront Warehouse. This time, we mounted (2) PTZ cameras at the top of the Holiday Inn near DOCO in Downtown Sacramento. These PTZ’s will allow the network to get a better visual of the city and outside weather conditions. A PTZ, or Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera, is often desired for this because these cameras have a wider range of visibility compared to the standard fixed camera; they can even get a 360-degree view!

Not only do these cameras assist the channel in getting views of the city, but it’s connected to ethernet with CAT6a cable. These network cables prevent slow or blurry playback video and will not disrupt the internet connection at the Holiday Inn. Our technicians installed (2) CAT6 cables in conduit and ran it back the the Main Distribution Frame (MDF). Then, each camera was mounted to a pole on a non-penetrating mat and weighed down with cinder blocks. Our team installed a 2U shelf for the cable modem to sit on, and once everything was tested the job was complete!

Thanks for reading everyone, we can’t wait to share what we do next!
