Ply Gem Partnership

Workman Communications • September 2, 2022

Our partnership with Py Gem started a little over a year ago in 2021. We have had the privilege  of working with them for two of their locations. Not only have they been rated #1 in windows vinyl siding and metal accessories, they also have a portfolio like no other and are backed by industry-leading warranties! They are a division of Cornerstone Building Brands and they have a huge selection of great quality building products which includes windows, patio doors and sliding to designer accent, stone veneer, also fence and railing.

Starting with the West Sacramento location, we’ve done a great deal of work out there. We began working on this location in June of 2021 with a few CAT6 cable installations here and there. It was not until recently that we started a huge project there. This project includes the installation of 45 new CCTV cables with the installation of 45 CCTV cameras, installing a 24 port switch in 5 different IDF ( Intermediate Distribution Frame ) locations, more CAT6 CMR cabling to hook up to 8 TV locations and then mounting those 8 Samsung 65″ TV’s (as pictured above). With these TV’s Ply Gem is now able to use Samsungs Magicinfo Software, which gives them the capability to display any announcements or information necessary to communicate with employees through out the warehouse.

We also did an access control system throughout the building, our techs installed 10 electrified door handles, 6 electrified panic bars on the storefronts doors, a delay egress on break room gate, 8 battery powered sirens on warehouse doors, a 2-way video intercom system with the door release feature for the truck driver entrance and 16 card readers. Our techs hooked up and tested every piece installed by the Workman team.

Our partners at Ply Gem loved our work and chose to contract our Workman team once again to take care of a secondary location outside of the Northern California area . At this location our team installed 58 new CCTV cables and 58 CCTV cameras,
(1) 24port switch in 5 different IDF locations using their existing fiber,  they also i nstalled CAT6 CMR cables to (2) IDF locations due to fiber not being in place, 12 door sirens on non-exit doors which included a  battery powered alarm, a  new card reader at a door location, a  new 2 door access control system using existing wiring, and to finish off they hooked up and tested all the equipment installed. This project was estimated to take about a month to complete but our team did such an amazing job and completed it in no more that 2 weeks!

We hope everyone has had a great week and enjoyed a sneak peak into what we have been up to!

Please note that we will be closed on Monday, September 5,2022 for labor day weekend.

We hope you all have a fun and safe weekend.

Keep an eye out for our next blog!

Imagine a world where your business operations flow seamlessly, information travels at lightning speed, and connectivity is never a concern. This world exists, and it all revolves around one crucial element: data cabling. Data cabling is the unsung hero of modern business infrastructure, quietly supporting your daily activities and ensuring everything runs smoothly. In this blog, we will delve into the intricacies of data cabling and uncover how it can significantly impact your business. Unveiling the Basics of Data Cabling Data cabling, in its simplest form, is the physical infrastructure that allows data to be transmitted from one device to another within a network. Whether it's through copper cables or fiber optics, the goal remains the same: fast, reliable data transmission. Think of data cabling as the roads and highways of your network, ensuring that information reaches its destination swiftly and accurately. When setting up data cabling for your business, several factors come into play, such as the type of cables to use, the layout of your office space, and future scalability. It's essential to design a cabling system that not only meets your current needs but can also adapt to any future expansions or technology upgrades. Moreover, proper installation and maintenance of data cabling are paramount. A well-organized and neatly arranged cabling infrastructure not only improves network performance but also makes troubleshooting and upgrades much more efficient. Investing in the right cabling setup from the start can save you time, money, and headaches down the line. Enhancing Efficiency Through Structured Cabling Systems Structured cabling systems take data cabling to the next level by providing a comprehensive framework that supports various hardware and services. Unlike traditional point-to-point cabling, structured cabling organizes the network into manageable blocks, making it easier to identify and resolve connectivity issues. With structured cabling, businesses can enjoy higher levels of efficiency and reliability. The standardized approach to cabling design means that additions or changes can be made with minimal disruption to existing operations. This scalability is particularly beneficial for businesses looking to grow and adapt to evolving technological demands. Furthermore, structured cabling simplifies network management by reducing the risk of human error and ensuring consistency across the entire infrastructure. By streamlining connectivity and optimizing signal quality, businesses can operate more smoothly and focus on their core activities without being bogged down by IT complexities. As technology continues to advance, the need for flexible and robust cabling systems becomes increasingly evident. Structured cabling lays the foundation for a future-proof network that can accommodate emerging technologies and innovations, giving your business a competitive edge in a fast-paced digital landscape. The Role of Fiber Optic Cables in Modern Infrastructures Fiber optic cables have revolutionized data transmission by utilizing light signals to transfer data at incredibly high speeds. Compared to traditional copper cabling, fiber optics offer greater bandwidth, longer distances, and enhanced security, making them ideal for businesses with demanding networking requirements. The lightweight and durable nature of fiber optic cables makes them less prone to signal interference and physical damage, ensuring consistent performance and reliability. With the increasing demand for real-time data processing and cloud-based services, fiber optics have become the backbone of modern business infrastructures. Moreover, fiber optic cabling is future-proof, capable of supporting the evolving needs of businesses as technology progresses. Whether it's high-definition video streaming, large data transfers, or remote collaboration, fiber optics provide the speed and stability required to keep pace with the digital demands of today and tomorrow. The Crucial Role of Data Cabling As we wrap up our exploration of data cabling, one thing becomes abundantly clear—data cabling is not just a means to connect your devices; it's the backbone of your entire business infrastructure. From boosting efficiency and reliability to paving the way for future technological advancements, the importance of investing in high-quality data cabling cannot be overstated. So, whether you're setting up a new office or upgrading your existing network, remember that strong data cabling is the foundation upon which your business success is built.
