Check out what we have been up to!!

We’ve had a lot of jobs rolling in and keeping us busy here at Workman Communications.

In our last blog we left off with our techs starting a project at USGS, and now our team has completed it. With this job our techs installed CAT6A CMR cables to 28 locations and CAT6 CMR to 64 locations, CAT6 cables to a projector along with a media converter and 6′ HDMI cables. They also installed speaker wire to 4 locations, a 100′ pull down projector screen and mounted a 8′ white board. Our technicians definitely had their hands full with this job as they also installed a 19″ 2-post rack with (2) 4″ conduit stubs. Our team also installed the alarm system using a DSC panel, followed up with multiple CCTV 4mp dome cameras, 8ch 3tb NVR and 32″ monitor.

Our team also took on UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, which was completed in 1 day. They installed 35 sound masking speakers using 18-2 CMR speaker wire along with the controller and power supply. Once that project was complete, they had service calls and additional labor / time and material appointments in-between before taking care of our friends over at Christ Community Church. Our technicians installed 500 feet of fiber optics cable from the MPOE all throughout the building and up to the server room, then terminating it with LC connectors on both ends. Fiber optics is used for data application when going over 300 feet or when faster internet speeds are needed because it transfers in the form of light so it is quicker; it works by drawing light instead of electrical power because of the fact it has glass fiber.

Our next project was installing a security system for Gold’s Gym located in Citrus Heights. Our team installed black  CCTV cables for the cameras throughout the building and helped out with aiming the cameras.

We then took on a couple bigger projects.

Starting with our partners over at Ply Gem and their West Sacramento location. The techs have installed access control systems throughout the building including electrical door handles, electric panic bars, a delay egress, sirens, a 2-way video intercom with door release and card readers. They also placed a security system in the building which includes CCTV cable installation and the cameras. Also installing a 24-port switch to several IDF locations.

Our team has also started a project with the El Dorado County Community Health Center. They provide primary health care, social supportive services and help coordinate any additional healthcare services that may be needed. This job is still taking place as it contains CAT6e CMR cable installations in over 300 locations along with a IDF and MDF build out. This includes the install of a few 19 inch 2-post racks, installation of  12″ cable runway on 4 walls and 12″ cable runway through the center of a room, also the install of 4 inch conduit into ceiling for 3 locations for the MDF system. The IDF system includes installing a wall mount enclosure, installation of 4″ conduit into ceiling for 2 locations and the installations of up to 500′ of OM4 6-strand armored fiber from MDF to IDF.

While starting these 2 big projects we were still able to take on more due to our great time management, team organization, and great technicians with awesome work ethic. We completed our 2-phase project with our friends over at Open Text with the installation of there speaker system which included the cable installation using 18-2 speaker wire for over 30 sound masking speaker locations and a couple of sensors.

Our team then tackled our project with Latham Pools which has been named the largest designer, manufacturer and marketer of in-ground swimming pools for residents in North America, Australia and New Zealand. Our Workman team was able to finish in a little under a week. This job contained the installation of up to 1400’ of fiber optic cable from main building to shipping trailer, a trench of 1100′ approximately 18″ deep, the installation of 1100’ of 1.25” conduit and a few Christie boxes from the main building to the shipping trailer. Our techs also took it upon themselves to fill in the trench when completed. They also installed plywood and a 12U enclosure in shipping trailer, installed CAT6 cables to 5 locations, a CAT6 cable to a printer and AP locations inside shipping trailers and installed a CAT6 cable to a TV in main building break room.

While handling all these big and small projects and still taking on our regular service calls, along with our labor and time and material jobs, our team still had the time to take on another project with our partners over at Mailing Systems. This one includes the installation of (2) CAT6 CMR cable drops to 27 locations throughout the office, the install of a CAT6 CMR cable to 4 locations in office, routing cables in 13 cubicle locations, another install of (2) CAT6 CMR cable drops to over 30 locations in the warehouse, along with installing  3/4″ conduit to 4 locations in  the warehouse and the install of a new 2-post rack and cable raceway in the existing IT closet. This project will be just about done within these next few days.
